Cultural and artistic aspects are especially stressed in both the curricula of the Faculty of Music and the Faculty of Food Culture. International Students Thanks to the non-urban cultural environment of Kurashiki city,students from any country can enjoy a fruitful college life and absorb the essence of Japanese culture. Although international students have not so far been numerous,they are welcomed by all faculty members and students. Environment The campus occupies 153,000u in natural surroundings at the eastern edge of Kurashiki city.Access is very easy;10 minutes' walk from Shin-Kurashiki station and 5 minutes' drive from the Tamashima Interchange of the Sanyo mortorway. Facilities A library,a gymnasium and a student centre including a canteen are available for all students and staff.An outdoor amphi-theatre (800 seats) and a concert hall (450 seats) are especially useful for the students of music. Beside ordinary lecture rooms,we have several rooms equipped with audio-visual computer facilities. Students Activities Annual campus events include freshmen orientation and welcome party in April, a sports day in May, and a school festival in early November.Besides,there are a wide range of extracurricular activities including Japanese arts such as flower arrangement and tea ceremony. Academic Programs for International Students Every international student is oriented by our advisory staff toward his/her proper academic program including such subjects as Buddhism,Japanese traditional music or Japanese food culture. Services for International Students International students have access to health clinic,personal/psychological counseling, housing information, part-time job information and various cultural exchange programs. Undergraduate Programs Music Music/Music in Education Faculty of Food Culture The Faculty was established in 1997.It was founded with the object of producing professionals who will be active in the field of food in the coming century.The Faculty has one department of Food and Lifestyle. The Faculty provides programmes for qualification as a dietician,or as a teacher at high school and junior high school,or as clerical staff for arts & science musiums.
